"But it's like when my doctor told me the story of these two brothers whose dad was a bad alcoholic. One brother grew up to be a successful carpenter who never drank. The other brother ended up being a drinker as bad as his dad was. When they asked the first brother why he didn't drink, he said that after he saw what it did to his father, he could never bring himself to even try it. When they asked the other brother, he said that he guessed he learned how to drink on his father's kene. So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them."

thats from the last few pages of "the perks of being a wallflower." i put it in here just cause it really got me thinking.

its not that my dad an alcoholic.

hes not @ all.

but if you know me well enough...then u know the perils of my father.

and i think thats where my sister and i are different.

because ever since i realized all of what he is and everything that he does...ive never wanted to do that. to anyone. because i know what it feels like.

but my sister...i think that because ive always been so against the way that my dad is...shes always clung to him just to defy me. and i think she doesnt really realize exactly who he is. and i dunno if she will. she may be too much like him already. i think she just adapted to his ways.

and that makes me sad.

even though its taking her longer...i hope someday she sees him for all that he is. i hope she learns from his wrong ways.

but ok yes. thats all. that lil excerpt just really got me thinking.

i finished the book yesterday.

it was really fantastic.

and im tempted just to start all over again...lol like right now.

but i think ill hold off at least for a little while.

but i really did love it.

thanks for the recommendation!

enjoy friday people...

last - next
